Trip Details
A
float trip on the pristine, protected, and isolated waters of Central Montana's
Smith River makes for one of the most unique
angling and backcountry
experiences in the continental United
States. This trip is for two,
but what a great opportunity to invite your own group of family, friends
or clients as you spend five days floating, fishing, and camping along
a 60-mile stretch of the river. These trips are hard to come by – so your
group will revel in the experience as you wind your way through the scenic
and remote Smith River Canyon.
Along the journey the river drops over
1,000 feet in elevation, creating as wide a variety of trout habitat as one
can imagine. While releasing 30 fish in a day is common, the fishing for
many anglers runs second to the overall atmosphere and beauty of the river.
Seasoned
guides will accompany you, and you will float the river two anglers
per boat in customized driftboats and rafts outfitted for fly fishing. When
you arrive in camp at the end of each day, spacious double occupancy tents
are already pitched, camp is set up, and the drinks are ready. A hearty and
delicious streamside dinner will provide the perfect end to a day in the wilderness!
Stare into the campfire, enjoy a glass of wine and think about the
rises of the day, the “one that got away”, and the hook-ups to come in the
morning.
